Night Watch
"Thought-provoking immersive experience" - Carlyn Moulton
"Creative, surprising and so much fun!" - Marcia Wallace
"Blown away by its magical complexity." - Susan Smythe Bishop
As darkness falls, Base31 invites you to Night Watch - a nighttime walk through Base31’s historic site, illuminated by interactive artworks. Blending art, spectacle and adventure, Night Watch transports attendees into a realm of nighttime magic.
Created in partnership with The Department of Illumination, Night Watch includes mesmerizing light installations, guiding participants along a 2 km trail that winds through the historic grounds. This is a one-of-a-kind, experience, and is 60-90 minutes in duration. Minors are welcome to experience Night Watch as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
Night Watch walks depart every 15 minutes starting at 7:45 pm on Fridays until the last departure at 11:00 pm EDT. Attendees are encouraged to book their tickets in advance to secure a preferred time slot for their group.
As this event takes place outdoors at night, we highly recommend wearing sturdy and comfortable shoes and dressing for the weather. Your experience may include: uneven terrain, low lighting, one set of 4 steps, prolonged walking and standing, possible wind and inclement weather conditions.

“I’ve come to expect nothing less than incredibly creative and joyful experiences when I attend any Department of Illumination event, but Night Watch at Base31 is next level - I was absolutely blown away by its magical complexity. This is a mindful, thought-provoking spectacle on par with something you would experience with Luminato, and it’s right here in our backyard in Prince Edward County. Everyone should experience this.”- Susan Smythe Bishop
