Wild Women Cabaret

Wild Women Cabaret

Join us for a night of empowerment and artistry at Wild Women, an extraordinary Cabaret Series presented by the renowned singer/performer, Lorraine Segato, alongside co-host and co-creator, Colleen Allen. This innovative and exhilarating cabaret-style showcase unites an exceptional assembly of the most gifted artists performing today, each delving into a diverse array of themes through the mediums of song, monologue, comedy, and spoken word. Infused with passion and talent, these performers celebrate the creativity of Canada’s women songwriters with their heartfelt tributes. The group will explore contemporary genres leaning into folk, pop and R&B influences. They will cover a variety of well-known Canadian singer-songwriters including Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette, Jann Arden, KD Lang, Ferron and more. Segato will also be performing some original material.

What’s different in this year’s show at Base31?

“Last year, the theme at Base31 was remembrance because of the date that it was held,” Segato said. “This year's spring show is featuring songs of Canadian women songwriters but we're leaning into the power of the word. We're singing songs that in fact are not love songs, they are songs about a variety of topics to show the diversity of the writing styles that women take up.”

This year, Allen and Segato are joined by performers Martha Chaves (featured performer), Lauren Falls (bassist) Diane Leah (piano), Jenna Marie (featured singer), and Kathryn Rose (featured singer).

ABOUT THE VENUE

Sergeants Mess Hall

The 177-seat Sergeants Mess Hall at Base31 is the newest performance venue to open in Prince Edward County. This architectural gem has been renovated and repurposed as a unique and intimate concert venue, featuring state-of-the art sound and lighting, with its original historic charm and character retained. The Sergeants Mess Hall has a rich history dating back to its construction in 1939. The building was originally built as a mess hall for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) No. 31 Bombing and Gunnery School during World War II. During the war, the building served as a gathering place for the sergeants who were stationed at the base. It was a place where they could relax, eat meals, and socialize with their fellow soldiers. After the war, the base was decommissioned and the building served a variety of purposes over the years, including as a community centre, a school, and a storage facility.
