Legends in the world of cabaret and musical theatre, Amy Armstrong and Mark Hartman unite their talents for a thrilling performance at Base31’s historic Sergeants Mess Hall on Friday, July 20. Both were recently honoured as Favorite Live Entertainers at the We Are Puerto Vallarta Awards. A winner of 2023 Favorite Live Entertainer at the We Are Puerto Vallarta Awards, Amy Armstrong was born in the motor city of Detroit Michigan. As a young child she was bullied for being a big girl with a loud mouth. She went to college in the great city of Chicago where she was embraced and celebrated by a group of gay men in the Boystown community of Chicago who recognized her uniqueness and talent. Amy earned her chops at the legendary Gentry’s of Chicago with the likes of Freddy Allen, the incomparable Honey West, and Alexandra Billings.

Amy has been a LGBTQ+ ally who has dedicated almost 30 years of her life entertaining on Gay cruises and venues other venues like Pride. Amy has never said no to performing to benefit causes that support her beloved LGBTQ+ friends and family.

Mark Hartman (he/him) is a New York-based pianist, coach, conductor, arranger and composer working in theater, cabaret, and concerts around the world. Mark was the Associate Conductor of Sondheim On Sondheim and Avenue Q on Broadway. Off-Broadway, he was the Music Director for The Streets Of New York (2022 Drama Desk Award Nominee, Best Orchestrations), Pageant, Silence! The Musical, Ernest In Love, After The Ball, Finian’s Rainbow, and The Irish…and How They Got That Way (also Nat’l Tour), Avenue Q (Vineyard) and The Fantasticks (Sullivan St. and Orbach Theater productions). Regional credits include Asolo Rep, Broadway In Chicago, Fifth Avenue (Seattle), Goodspeed, Guthrie Theater, Old Globe, Pasadena Playhouse. Mark is one of the creators of Magic To Do, a Stephen Schwartz revue for Princess Entertainment. He is one of the music directors for the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s Cabaret Conference. Mark is the winner of 3 MAC Awards, a We Are Puerto Vallarta Award, and the Backstage Bistro Award for Music Direction
