Barbers at the Base

Friday, August 30, 2024

Jill Barber is a 3 time Juno Award nominee and recent winner of the Producer of the Year Award at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. She has toured the world playing prestigious jazz and folk festivals as well as esteemed venues as Toronto’s Massey Hall, Tokyo’s Blue Note, The Dubai Expo and more.

Older brother Matthew Barber, who introduced Jill to the guitar and his CD collection, is a 2 time Juno Award nominee, who’s sound harkens back to the classic era of Laurel Canyon and the Yorkville scene of 1960’s Toronto. Matthew has toured with Sam Roberts, Chris Isaak, Matt Mays and more.

Together, Matthew and Jill made The Family Album, nominated for a Juno Award, it highlighted their beautiful harmonies on songs by Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, Ian Tyson and more.

Joining the Barbers for this special family affair will be Jill’s husband, Grant Lawrence. The effervescent, award-winning broadcaster and bestselling author will share a few of the Barber family’s favourite true stories from his books and podcasts between some of the songs.
